What Cars Are Set to be Most Popular in 2019?

Another interesting year lies ahead of us in the UK and many of you may be searching for a new car. So because we love cars at Queens Park Garage we thought it would be a good opportunity to take a closer look at what’s coming in 2019.

Whether you need a sensible SUV or are looking for something a little sportier, we hope there’s something here to catch your eye.

Best Electric Cars For 2019

More and more of us are turning to EVs or hybrid vehicles in an attempt to cut down our use of fossil fuels. Most car manufacturers have at least one model off the production line nowadays and the industry is really advancing.

  • All the top brands are getting involved, Audi are coming out with the E-Tron, Mercedes with their EQC, BMW with the iX3 and Porsche with their super car rivalling Taycan.
  • The new Mini EV may well be the perfect electric city run around and will join the Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf in the small car category.
  • If you are looking for an SUV with eco-friendly power, at one end you have the compact Hyundai Kona EV and at the other the likes of Jaguar’s I-Pace and or course the Tesla Model X. Volvo has also set itself a target for 50% of its sales volume to be fully electric cars by 2025 and are leading the charge with the new XC40 EV.
  • The blow the budget option must be Aston Martin’s Rapide E. Expected to retail at around £200K only 155 will be built. It just goes to show that electric cars really are the future when even James Bond has to move with the times!!

Best SUVs and Crossovers for 2019

There are loads to choose from this year and ultimately it will come down to budget, brand and your specific requirements. If crossover is a term you are not familiar with, the simplest explanation is that crossover cars combine mechanical parts of small hatchbacks but with the taller shape of an off road and are becoming increasingly fashionable.

If you’re looking for a stylish and responsive SUV, you won’t do much better than the SEAT Tarraco which is due to hit the market early in 2019. With a comfortable 7 seats and the latest digital technology, it has something a little extra to offer.

Skoda are still producing good quality, relatively low budget cars to suit all the family and the Kamiq is their latest offering due summer 2019. More of a crossover than an SUV, Skoda are claiming it will be smaller and more stylish than their current Karoq and may be available as a hybrid as well as with a choice of petrol and diesel engines.

There are several old favourites making a comeback in 2019 including the Toyota RAV4, Suzuki Jimny and Nissan Juke. Not to mention two favourites from Jaguar Land Rover in the shape of the new Range Rover Evoque and the completely modernised Land Rover Defender

Best City Run-Arounds

If all you need to do is get around the town or city, small and compact is the name of the game. While it’s a little on the pricy side, the VW Up! is a great looking car with plenty of power and manoeuvrability to get around crowded city streets.

For those looking for something just a little more spacious that comes in at a sensible price, the Kia Picanto is a pretty good choice.

Best Sports Cars for 2019

Not everyone is looking for a family SUV or sensible runaround. So for those petrol heads amongst you with a love of speed and brutal lines here is our choice of the best sports cars coming in 2019.

The Porsche 911, a design classic subtly tweaked and with more engine power than its predecessor.

The Mercedes AMG Project One, less a sports car more a hypercar it is being touted as the car that may topple the Bugatti Chiron as the fastest production car on the planet. Despite its potential £2million price tag (!!!) all 275 are said to be spoken for.

Toyota Supra, arriving in Britain this summer it is the result of a partnership between Toyota and BMW that led to the co-developing of the new Supra and the Z4. We are excited to see the updated 1970s classic!!

Bentley Continental, somewhere between a luxury saloon and a sports car. The convertible version will undoubtedly be one of the poshest drop tops of sale.

Nissan GT-R, a favourite of ours since day one we are sooo excited to see what this new incarnation will bring.

Corvette Stingray, our favourite American sportscar. Not as refined as it’s European counterparts but it looks cool and we know it will sound cool and will undoubtedly deliver on the fun factor.
